Life with our little guy

Having a little boy in our house means that life is rarely dull.
Sometimes he likes to play dress-up with Daddy's hats and shoes. In fact, he LOVES to wear Daddy's hats...we find them all over the house on a regular basis.
Dress-up isn't the only thing he likes to do. Sometimes he likes to do a little artwork. Occasionally his art is done on paper, but most of the time it's on the carpets, the table, the curtain, and sometimes the door frame. Yes, it's still there if anyone would like to come and admire it.
He's a fun little guy. There are times when he has a little too much fun. Like the other night when he was looking back at Daddy, running away from him laughing, and bonk! Next thing you know, his cute little face went right into the corner of the dining room table. Poor baby. He only cried for about 30 seconds and was fine. A little bruise started showing and by the next day, he had his first black eye.
He may make life a little more "interesting" than I would sometimes like, I wouldn't trade him for the world! Love you little man!

P is for Pizza

One thing most kids love...and I must admit I do, too...is pizza. This week we are studying the letter P and I usually try to think of a fun activity to go along with our letter of the week. Sometimes we take a little field trip, cook something, or do a special craft. With P, pizza just seemed like the perfect thing. So Bethany's mom, Wendy, and I put our resources together. She had some pizza crust from a kit, I had some spaghetti sauce, cheese, and ground beef. The girls and I got busy pizza making!
I love how Bethany is always willing to dive in. Today Sophie said, "Mom, I'll just let Bethany do it." She doesn't like to get her hands dirty! : )
The pizza turned out great and we all enjoyed it! Wendy came with some salad and I had some other veggies and we had a great lunch together!
I thoroughly enjoy doing homeschooling. We get to do so many things that are not typical for school, but the girls are learning things that are educational in the process. Each time we turn on the oven, we talk about having the right temperature, we make sure we have the right ingredient measurements, and the girls are excited about eating the things they make. They are also remembering that P is for p-p-pizza!

A fresh new look!

Hey friends! My blog has a fun new look!! Thanks to friend and sister in Christ, Keisha Walker, I am updated and have a great new feature! Check out the buttons there at the top. If you click on one of those buttons, it'll take you directly to the posts I've made that relate to that topic. Under "my stuff" there is a drop down of "hobbies" that include crafts that I've blogged about and other fun things. If you'd like to have a new look yourself, Keisha has a blog design business called "Blogs for Babies". I'm so thankful that she knows what's cool and how to do all of this...because I have no clue! : ) Hope you enjoy the new design as much as I do! God bless! Stacey

Happy Valentine's Day!

It's Valentine's Day! We had a fun day celebrating during school time. I had some sugar cookie mix and I thought it would be fun to make some Valentine cookies! Bethany never minds getting her hands dirty and mixing up the dough.
I was glad to have some heart-shaped cookie cutters! Here they are before they were put in the oven.

My dining room table looks like an explosion of hearts, pink, and candy. We made Valentine cards for our family while the cookies were cooling. Then when the girls finished their cards, we iced the cookies! Sophie went for the chocolate...yep, that's my girl! : )

Ok, friends...I want to be all nonchalant about Valentine's Day...but I must shout it from the rooftops...I LOVE IT! I love getting flowers from my hubby with a sweet note telling me he loves me (even though I knew that already...it's still fun to get flowers and one of those florist cards). I love the fact that he got me yellow roses because yellow is my favorite color. You see...I went many, many years without being anyone's Valentine. Single ladies...it was definitely worth the wait! So when it's Valentine's Day...I'm all about it! I am also reminded of God's faithfulness and love in providing me with a loving, amazing husband. Not only that, He showed me the greatest love of all through His Son. What a blessing! I hope all of you have a great day, too!

Hello There Cupcake

I have a confession to make. I love cupcakes. I love cupcake shows--Cupcake Wars to be exact--and I love other bakery shows. I think there's something interesting about seeing what people can put in a cupcake. The other day on Cupcake Wars they were putting beer in there, figs, goat cheese frostings, and all sorts of interesting things. I even like to see how they do their presentation. Each baker seems to have their own little style of swirling the icing on top. They even do fillings. I don't know if I've ever had gnoche filling in anything, but it sounds pretty awesome.
So that brings me to my recent lunch outing with my Mom and one of her friends. They were very generous to offer to let me tag along. I think they knew that I was a little socially deprived. Sometimes stay-at-home-Moms need opportunities to get out and practice those long lost social skills. Honestly, sometimes I feel like I have a hard time carrying on a decent grown-up conversation. Anyway, we had lunch at this neat little place called Fountain of Juice in Macon, GA. Mom and I love to go there. Even though it's a little pricey, all of their stuff is made with organic ingredients and tastes very fresh. I had a half chicken salad sandwich with a small bowl of loaded potato soup. Yum! For dessert, we decided to try out this new, cute little cupcake place. Oh, yeah. Right up my alley!
Mom's friend had been there before, so she knew how fun it was. We walked into this small, but elegant little shop and I was in love! The decor was done in white, pink, and brown. There were cute little chairs to sit in, a nice cupcake display, and the artwork was done with various sizes of cupcake papers in brown, white, and pink, mounted on white rectangular blocks. So cute, I thought! Then it was time to choose a cupcake. They all looked awesome. I chose the lemon. It was delish! Even though I paid $2.50 for this treat, I feel like I actually got my money's worth. It was dense, pretty large, and very sweet. I was actually satisfied when I finished it. They even put our cupcake in a cute little pink box with a logo sticker on it. So I had to pass on this little place to you guys. Here's the link to their website. Yes, they even have a website!
Enjoy!

What a week!

Yesterday I was pretty excited to be mentioned on Tamera Alexander's blog. Today I'm excited because not only did I get my house vaccuumed, but I also got my little article put on the blog for the Fishers of Men movie! I subscribe to email updates from Fishers of Men and one day they sent out an email asking for anyone who was interested in writing an article for their blog, to submit it and they would consider it. There were a variety of topics, but I just chose one that's near and dear to us right now....saving money! I also tied it in to what the world considers to be prosperous and what it means to be truly prosperous. My article was accepted and put on the blog today! Check it out!

Thanks for any and all support! God bless!

Blog plug!

It's my first time being plugged on a blog! I'm feeling pretty special today as my name has been mentioned on Tamera Alexander's blog this morning : ). Ok, so I didn't write anything or do anything extremely noteworthy. I'm apparently getting pretty good at finding free Kindle books on Amazon. Tamera was the one who gave me the link to downloading the Kindle software onto my PC...and since then, I've been addicted to finding as many free books as possible! And I've found quite a few good ones. Surprisingly, I've found a great selection of Christian fiction! So here is my little moment in the spotlight : ). Check it out!
I've also mentioned her books on here before...and they're great! That's my return plug : ).
Hope you have a blessed day!

Megan and Will

My first real teaching job began in March of 2000. I was joining the Campus Outreach Thailand team in Khon Kaen, Thailand for a two year commitment (which actually turned into a four year commitment!). I was so excited about this new adventure! My main role on the team was to teach the children of the missionaries. Honestly, this could not have been a better experience. Seriously, though...aren't they the cutest kids?! They were, and still are, smart, creative, fun, and I love them all! And now...two of them are graduating from high school! I honestly can't believe this much time has gone by. Will (top pic, on left) and Megan (the only girl in these pics) are the graduates. Ok...take a look at them now!

Yes, I'm getting old. I definitely feel old when I see how they've changed and grown. You see, I still picture them in my mind as those little kids you saw up top. I've missed the last 7 years of their lives. I'm sad, in a way, that I've missed seeing them grow into the amazing young people that they are. They both love the Lord, want to see others come to Christ, and work alongside their parents, siblings, and friends to share the truth of Christ to Thais. But this post is not about being sad! It's about rejoicing in the life of two amazing, about to graduate and go to college, teenagers! Love you Will and Megan!Mrs. Stacey : )
